A jatha of Sikh pilgrims would be sent by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in November 2021 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh master at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, Pakistan.
In this regard, the SGPC had started the visa process and demanded passports from the pilgrims up to August 15, 2021, and this date has now been extended to August 25, 2021. Disclosing this here today SGPC chief secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that like every year, the SGPC would send a jatha of Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev's birth anniversary and the pilgrims can deposit their passports at SGPC office by August 25, 2021.
"The pilgrims who want to visit Gurdwara Prakash Asthan Sri Nankana Sahib and other shrines in Pakistan on this auspicious occasion should send their passports along with the recommendation of their constituency's SGPC members to the Yatra Department at the SGPC office. It is mandatory for the pilgrims to attach a photocopy of the Aadhar card, voter card, or ration card along with their passport as proof of identity. The Sangat should deposit passports and documents to the SGPC in time so that further action could be taken to complete the visa process", said Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
SGPC chief secretary said that this time on the instructions of the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, the SGPC is also providing services to the pilgrims of Haryana for obtaining their visas. Under the Haryana state quota, the pilgrims can deposit their passports to the SGPC’s sub-office at Gurdwara Patshahi Chhevin in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
