ASSOCHAM organizes session on Effects of Covid 19 on Cardiac patients with Dr. Naresh Trehan

To create awareness among the people about Covid-19, ASSOCHAM today organized a Session 2 on In Conversation with renowned Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Naresh Trehan, CMD Medanta – The Medicity.

As entire country is fighting with the second wave of Covid-19, ASSOCHAM – being a responsible apex body of the country has come-up with ‘COVID 19 Awareness Web Series’ to create awareness among the people about this deadly virus and it was the second session of the series.

During the session, Dr. Naresh Trehan, CMD Medanta – The Medicity, informed that Covid-19 is not only a virus that damages lungs but it can affect all other organs as well and Cardiac patient have to be more cautious about it.

“Covid can affect heart functioning and it should not be taken lightly. The cardiac patient must consult their doctors in any such case and never try to treat themselves, Dr Trehan said.

“Vaccination is the only weapon we have to fight with this virus, everyone should get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible, ” he added.

Dr Trehan also answered number of queries raised by the attendees during the session and cleared their doubts.

It is pertinent to mention here that ASSOCHAM in collaboration with Medanta is already providing the FREE Tele-Consultation to Covid patients, for which patients/attendants can log on to ASSOCHAM’s official website.

Mr. Jitender Sodhi, Chairman ASSOCHAM Himachal Pradesh State Development Council during his address thanked Dr. Trehan for providing free Consultation to covid patients through ASSOCHAM.

“COVID 19 long-haulers have lingering cardiac impacts from corona virus infections. Approx 50% of the people admitted in hospitals got heart attack even after recovery”, Mr Sodhi said.

Suggestions and tips from Dr Trehan will help patients lead a good quality of life, decreasing morbities and mortality rate. His brief insight on the subject will surely help to minimize the effect caused by COVID 19 imposition, he added.

First session of this series has been successfully completed in the presence of leading diabetologist by Dr. V Mohan, President, Madras Diabetes Research Centre, Chennai on June 5.
