A Virtual Sports Event organized by  Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri on International Yoga Day  for  giving students an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent in various athletic events including  yoga asanas , Jumping Jacks, Squats, Skipping, Push-ups, High Knees, Single Leg Stand. Faculty members also participated in Yoga event. Due to global COVID-19 lockdown students are missing much of the action they must have had in regular college. The motive of organising this sports event was to keep students active and check out their fitness level by asking them to perform various physical activities. Achieving the task was no easy feat for example, 80 jumping jacks were required to be performed in a time span of 1 minute, and likewise, in one minute duration students were asked to perform 50 squats, 80 skipping, 40 push-ups, and 60 high knees. Single leg stand task had no time limit and the one who did it for the maximum duration was adjudged as the winner.

The response from the students and Faculty members   was overwhelming. Every participant is a winner in the true sense, as it goes on to show these students have maintained upbeat mood and keeping themselves motivated in this lockdown. At the conclusion of the event, the efforts of the students were appreciated and also awarded numerous gift vouchers including e-vouchers from Amazon.

Speaking about the event,   Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal said that it is highly pleasing to see so many students are maintaining a healthy lifestyle even in this time of coronavirus lockdown. He further added that CGC Jhanjeri always encourages its students to excel not only academically but maintain physical fitness and agility at all times.”
