Chandigarh, Aam Aadmi Party has flayed Center and state governments were bend to ruin the Punjab farmers with making steep rise in rates of DAP fertiliser.

Harpal Singh Cheema leader of opposition in a statement issued from party headquarters here said that it was unfortunate that rates of DAP were hiked before sowing of wheat crop while farming community was dealing under debt and facing an acute financial crisis.

Cheema said that center and state governments were competing with each other to kill the farmers and are worst enemies of peasants. He said that an increase of Rs.140 per bag in DAP rate would put an extra burden of Rs.200 crores. He said that a 50 kg bag of fertiliser which was Rs.1250 would now be available at Rs. 1390 after rise of 11 percent rise in duty. He add

Fed that it was last announcement by Modi government related to farmers because general elections will be held in 2019 before next crop of Kharif. He said people of India and farmers will get relieved after BJP led government goes out of office.

He said that MSPmof crops was increased marginally whereas the rates of diesel and petrol are hiked manyfold. In JanuRy 2018, the rate of diesel in Punjab was Rs.58.92

Which is now Rs.70.56 per liter. The Punjab is biggest consumer of diesel and hike in diesel rates directly effect the farmers. He said Punjab government led by Capt Amarinder Singh has burdened farmers by levying highest VAT. He said that Congress government in Punjab was not ready to bail out farmers and center is making excuse of high dollar rate for not giving relief to farmers. He demanded to reduce VAT on diesel and taxes on fertilizer in Punjab to save farmers from high input cost.
