Chandigarh, - The Digital media Association of Punjab today strongly condemned the registration of FIR against senior journalist Vinod Dua who is an upright journalist. The Association has also flayed BJP for its attempts to gag media.
Ina statement issued here today the Association members Baljit Balli Chief Patron, Satinder Bains Chairman, Devinderjit Singh Darshi President, Mahavir Jain Senior Vice President, H.S.Bawa Vice President, Devinder Singh Kohli General Secretary, Parminder Singh Jattpuri Office Secretary, Parshant Sharma Joint Secretary and Nirmal Mansahia demanded to immediately cancel the FIR against Vinod Dua. They said that political establishment was trying to control the media by coercing or luring some of them.
The Association said that Vinod Dua in its popular Youtube channel 'Vinod Dua Show' had nailed the hidden faces behind the Delhi anti-Muslim riots which annoyed the ruling party at center. The Association said that it was foolish to allege by the complainant, a BJP worker that Vidon Dua is solely responsible for Delhi riots and he incited members of Muslim community. The fact is that ruling party at center has been continuously attacking media and on filmsy grounds.
Digital Media Association has called upion the Press Council of India and Judiciary to intervene in the matter immediately and ensure freedom of Press. The Association said that Dua was known for his investigating journalism and for that very reason he was earlier shunted out from a TV channel under pressure from the government. He is not only journalist to suffer in the hands of establishment, s several other upright journalists were made to resign and harrassed.
The Digital Media Association stands for freedom of the press and calls upon the journalist fraternity to strongly oppose attempts to browbeat the media in any state whether ruled by BJP, Congress or any other party.
