DC holds meeting with Registered PG Owners, RWAs on issue of PGs,

Chandigarh-The Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh, Mr. Mandip Singh Brar today held a meeting with all the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and officials of Chandigarh Administration. The rationale behind it was to get feedback regarding the issues pertaining to the PGs and contemplate actions to tackle the illegally/ unauthorized PGs.
The DC while emphasizing the aspect of safety of life, directed that every PG has to be registered and failure to do so would result in action by the Administration. He further informed that the PGs would be subjected to the annual checks and would also require Fire NOC. The DC also warned that strict action will be taken against the properties where PGs are found to be flouting norms.
DC also interacted with the registered PG owners. The registered PG owners assured that they are ensuring all safety standards in their PGs in accordance to all norms.
TheDS further informed that the a special desk has been set up at the Estate Office for tge registration of the PGs. He also directed AEO to ensure smooth facilitation for registration of PG Accomodations which fulfill the required norms.
He also called upon the RWAs to sensitize the people regarding reporting any illegally operational PGs on the helpline number 1860-1802067. Till 6:00 pm today 17 complaints have been received. Subdivision wise details i.e South (12), Centre (3) and East (2). The teams constituted by the SDMs are doing regular rigorous checking and since yesterday around 40 notices have been issued.
Among other officials present on the occasion included the ADC, UT Chandigarh, Mr. Sachin Rana, SDM Central UT Chandigarh Ms. Nazuk Kumar, SDM South UT Chandigarh Mr. Satish Kumar Jain, SDM East UT Chandigarh Mr. Sudhanshu Gautam and the Assistant Estate Officer, UT Chandigarh Mr. Manish Kumar Lohan.
